Let's add more green to the blue planet!

Some suspense:

If you are wondering about the topic for this article, let me tell you, this is going to be one of the most informative and gripping things that you are reading on the net today.

In fact, not just interesting, it is also more on the eye opening side. This is about the blue planet we live on and how to make it better environmentally i.e more greener.

Planet blue:

Why are you reading the word blue again and again? Because, that is what makes our planet. Water. Which looks blue when seen from space. This is the uniqueness of Earth.

The duties of life cannot be discharged by any person without water.

Says one of the ancient and well known Tamil poets Thiruvalluvar in his famous literature work - Thirukural. That tells us how important water is for the living.

Water is an eternal source for many chores and a replenishing source of energy to the human body. It is indeed a great medicine to the human body and supports  many metabolic activities.

Hmm. Things were going good, until we started containing it. Packaging water started taking place at the end of the last century. That is when many things change. However powerful humans can become, nature always proves to be a supreme power.

Though nature supports life, it also hinders living when we try to control it. Same does apply in the context in which we are discussing too.

The problem of packaged water:

Problems caused by plastic bottles

First and foremost, packaged drinking water uses non biodegradable plastic containers or bottles. Non biodegradable plastic, as we know, causes the majority of threats to the environment during disposal.

There are many bad effects that this brings to the picture. Let us examine some of them.

Plastic bottles contain chemicals like Bisphenol-A or BPA which slowly get into the water stream when exposed for long in the heat. This is carcinogenic and leads to a lot of health issues like problems in the liver, kidney, as per doctors. Source: Click here

Also, there are chances that deuterium can be depleted in the drinking water which can lead to a variety of issues, even up to cancer. So, it is highly risky to consume such chemicals.

Not just that, plastic bottles have other threats too. When disposed of in the water bodies, they are consumed by the aquatic life and cause major problems to them too. According to a recent survey, 94% of fishes which are found dead in the ocean have traces of plastic in their stomach.

Disposal itself imposes a huge task in terms of such bottles. It is said that it can take upto 500 years for a bottle to decompose. This is a huge number and not so practical.

Some external sources say that every day 1.3 billion plastic bottles are made in the world. These bottles are mostly not disposed of correctly making the place around filthy and contaminated.

Conclusion:

It is high time that we need to change this and change must happen fundamentally from every individual that over time could bring a greater good impact to the society itself. The main motive of this article is to make people aware of the threats by using such bottles.

Eco friendly water bottles

As a better replacement for plastic bottles, I suggest you could use biodegradable eco-friendly water bottles which are made of recyclable, disposable plastic material that does not affect much and skips most of the problems discussed above.

Apart from that, it also helps us to keep our environment clean and green by supporting easy disposal. In that way, we can take our small steps to make the Earth more sustainable by providing its resources to the future generations.
