CUPS THAT DON’T COST EARTH

Cups that don't cost Earth

Today’s topic:

The moment we hear the phrase ‘use and throw’, a small number of items flash in our memory. Out of them, cups are the most common thing which most of us can relate to.

Why? Let us see. So yes, we are going to discuss plastic cups.

Be it whatever drink - soda, tea, coffee, carbonated, colored, or even water, it is served in a plastic cup, if you are not at home. And, we humans must fuel ourselves to keep going.

This is to suffice that there is a lot we drink over a day, especially in sunny regions to keep us charged and escape some heat. As mentioned before, plastic cups help us with that. But, is there anything bad about them worthy enough to write an article on?

Let us know some truths:

Approximately, we humans consume 500 billions plastic cups every single year. How insane is that number sounding to you? A lot more than you imagined right? Fun fact is that, we are only 7.8 billion in population pan world. Source: Click here and here.

As obvious as it sounds, plastic cups use plastic! And the plastic used is non biodegradable. Well, well, well. That is one huge thing I am laying an emphasis on, in all of my articles, which you can notice clearly if you follow them. Link to other articles.

Why so? Because that is the magnitude of the damage it is causing for the effects will be very bad if there is no change in such activities. Not convinced yet? Let me tell you some more numbers.

According to some sources, in Australia alone, people throw away 2,700,000 paper coffee cups in one day! So what? Hmm. There are a lot. It causes a lot of pollution, just because we cannot dispose of it perfectly.

Environmental dumping is the exact term, if you are wondering what I was talking about. There are more effects too. Soil pollution, air pollution, water pollution, and particle pollution are some of the major problems caused by this.

Plastics clog waterways and may take upto 400-1000 years to completely decompose itself. Which itself sounds like a mystery, for it has not taken more than 100 years since plastic itself was invented. Anyhow, this is havoc.

Alternatives for plastic cups

Is there a way out?

Obviously yes. There is and there must be. Have you heard of Areca cups? Many of you might not have. But, you should know this. Especially, at this moment.

Areca is a plant which is widely found in the Malabar Coast of India. There are cups made from them. This concept is similar to the making of foot bowls at temples as an ancient tradition in India. And, they are great options.

Areca leaves are used to make cups and they are a very great replacement for plastics. Why? They are made of plant wastes. So? So, they are biodegradable. Then? And then, they also do not discharge harmful chemicals in the consumable like the plastic cups.

Conclusion:

Sounds interesting? Then I insist you give it a shot. Buy the best quality areca cups from this link here. And I am so sure that you won’t regret but rather be glad in doing your part in making the world a much greener place. Thanks for reading. Do leave your comment.
