THINGS NO ONE WILL TELL YOU ABOUT PLASTIC PLATES

Things no one will tell you about plastic plates

 Attention! Attention!:

Be it a public event, a family function, friends get-together, weekend party, cricket match gathering, etc. wherever there is a lot of people you know around, you eat when you meet.

Plastic plates come handy and help us a lot for that purpose. But, do they have anything that does bad to us and the planet we live in? Let’s find it out clearly in this article.

Let us learn some numbers:

In an approximate figure, we can tell that at least 5600 tons of plastic waste are generated in India per day. And most of that comes from cutlery, especially plates, though there is no precise proportion we can comment about. Source: This blog

However, the real danger is not just in the numbers as mentioned above. It is in the constituents of the plates that we need to bother about.

These disposable plastic plates are generally made up of plastics such as polythene, polypropylene, polystyrene, polycarbonate, polyvinyl chloride, etc.

When we dive deeper, we notice that polystyrene makes up the most of plastic plates. And they are indeed very dangerous.

Though its formula looks simple (C8H8) it is one of the toughest hydrocarbons making it almost impossible to break down or dispose of.

They are highly flammable and melt even at low temperatures. And, we in India, mostly consume hot food which makes it very simple for the plate to melt and mix with what we consume or intake.

It is quite certain that when we consume plastic even in small quantities, we are killing ourselves, though not immediately but slowly. Plastics are highly carcinogenic!

Changes start with action:

Now that we have understood, plastics on one hand do impose a huge threat by making it difficult for us to decompose them. And on the other hand, it puts us into an even worse situation of killing ourselves by consuming them in traces.

Every action must have an equal and opposite reaction. - Sir Issac Newton

As we are now aware of the threats of using plastic cutlery we must obviously react to it. This is nature and this is exactly what Newton's third law states (as mentioned above).

But, what to do and how can we change it? Even if we do, will that even matter? Alarmingly, the answer is yes!

Every single drop adds up to the ocean, if you are reading this you can probably change your life and one day it will also change the lives of people around you. And, being a social animal, the chain reaction will continue and change all our fellow beings.

“Okay okay, we know why now. But where is the how?” If that is what you are asking me, let me show you a way. A way where you can replace plastics, or atleast plastic plates for what this article is concerned about.

Go back to go forward:

Go backward to go forward

It will be quite funny, if I tell you that the new modern is from the ancient. But trust me, your laughter over this will fade over the next few decades. Because that is the only way out!

Bamboo plates. You know that. I know that. We have used it. Probably we are using it now too, occasionally, or even very rarely. But not as frequent as how we use the plastic plates.

We ought to go for this alternative as quickly as possible. And not just it defies all the negatives of plastic plates but also it is quite healthy to eat in them. It helps us to regulate the haemoglobin and the platelet count.

Nowadays some of the bamboo plates are dishwasher friendly, which means we can reuse it. And it is quite affordable also. Which is certainly a huge bonus to us.

Hmm. You know some things now. You know plastic plates and their threats. You know bamboo plates and their advantages. And you are interested in using them too. If I guessed you right, you are now confused about where to get the bamboo alternatives.

Don’t worry, we got you covered. Click this link to purchase some of the high quality bamboo plates and to elevate your lifestyle. Do leave feedback about our article in the comments. Peace.
